Whatever Happened To?....Tom Lyle

Starting a new thing around here, Whatever Happened To?..., where I ask what happened to popular comic professionals that used to be everywhere, and now you don't hear shit from 'em anymore.

Today I'm talking about artist Tom Lyle. Remember Tom Lyle?

If you ever bought comics in the 90's like I did, chances are it had his art on it.
Examples?

How about titles like the adjective-less Spider-Man title,

or John Ostrander's run on the Punisher back in 1996/1997.

Plus there's his work on Tim Drake's Robin mini-series for DC,

as well as The Comet for DC's Impact line

 or Roger Stern's Starman.

And then there's all those Venom mini-series.

And a there's a Warlock mini, that he both wrote and drew himself back in 1998.

Anyhow he's still alive and kicking, doing projects of his here and there, but for the most part he's been teaching Sequential Art at SCAD, the Savannah College of Art and Design, since 2005.
Damn, just missed him when I toured there back in '05.

I was big into him back in the 90's, and he just happened to show up on the books I was reading at the time, like the Robin Mini-Series and the adjective-less Spider-Man titles, and he was always a solid hand I thought.

Is his style still in vogue? Idk, probably not, but he's still a solid artist much in the same vein as a Paul Ryan or a Ed Hannigan.

Any of you have a favorite Tom Lyle comic you enjoyed?
